    Best year VW

Mine has to be any of the split screens for style, though a T4 for practicality. Still yet to get either though!

    Re: Best year VW

Although the old vans look great i've seen too many broken down at the side of the road for them to be of any real interest to me.

When i'm on holiday the first rule for me has to be to actually get there! (and back home afterwards) so newer reliable vans are what interest me.
The trouble with camper vans is the cost, even an old T3/T4 will set you back £5000-£10000 but they hold their value so at least you know you'll get a fair proportion of that back if you decide to sell.
Of course if you go down the old bay or splitty route then you could even make money but i guess the maintenance costs would be quite high.

    Re: Best year VW

I knew you'd reply to this haha nice one.

Similar thoughts myself. I'd love an old already restored splitty, and sit on it (whilst using it from time to time I'd have to still have the odd go in it). But the Mrs has throttled me enough for it to sink in that we do need to keep up on the motorway without killing the camper, and we need to make sure it'll run every day and not just the good ones.

So looks like a T4 for me. And my budget doesn't allow the newer ones either which is the reason I'm doing a lot of waiting for a brilliant one to pop up. Left a couple too late and they've gone but I'd rather do that and get a good feel for what they go for than rush and end up with a lemon that's cost me a fortune and I sell it for peanuts - which I my usual way I go about buying and selling cars lol
